Shipyard History

CRN, originally established in Ancona, Italy, in 1963 under the acronym "Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali," has an illustrious legacy of crafting opulent luxury yachts. Notably, in the 1980s, they gained prominence among Greek and Middle Eastern royal clientele. As leaders in the steel and aluminum industry, CRN marked a significant milestone in 1986 with the launch of their first over-60m creation, Il Vagabondo, followed by the 68-meter Awal a year later. In the early 2000s, following an acquisition by the Ferretti Group, CRN expanded into composite materials, enabling them to produce up to 15 superyachts annually and increase their production capacity.

In 2010, CRN made headlines by launching the 236-foot (72-meter) Azteca, breaking their own records. They repeated this feat in 2013 with the introduction of the 262-foot (80-meter) Chopi Chopi, still holding the title as the largest CRN-built superyacht. CRN's remarkable achievements and highly sought-after launches have solidified their reputation in the charter and sales market. Their commitment to fulfilling owners' specifications and collaborating with elite designers underscores their dedication to creating unique, one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Known for their inventive designs, technological innovation, and distinctive style, CRN-built yachts continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

Notable Deliveries and Models

CRN's production history includes a shift in the early 2000s, introducing semi-custom composite and steel models such as CRN 128, CRN 43 (GRP), CRN 54, and CRN 60 (steel). Noteworthy yachts from these models include 5G, Hana, Maraya, and Ramble On Rose.In the realm of full-custom production, CRN experienced a prolific period starting in 2010, delivering an impressive total of 15 superyachts. The largest CRN-built yacht to date is the 80m Chopi Chopi, delivered in 2013. Memorable examples in terms of size include Arbema (formerly Azteca), Lady Jorgia (formerly Cloud 9), and Mimtee. Recent CRN-designed yachts that received extensive coverage and industry recognition include the 55m Atalante, 58m Odyssey (previously known as J'Ade), and 62m Voice.As of 2022, CRN launched two new superyachts: the 62m Rio and the 52m Ciao, both designed by the Dutch design studio Omega Architects.

Shipyard Specialty

Throughout its history, CRN has excelled in constructing full-custom superyachts. The Italian shipyard, based in Ancona, specializes in luxury yacht building projects ranging from 49m to 80m, utilizing steel and aluminum construction. As a high-end branch of the Ferretti Group, CRN focuses on delivering 3 and 4-deck full-displacement superyachts. Each CRN-built superyacht is fully customized, with external and internal designs crafted by renowned architects in the yachting industry. CRN's clients enjoy complete control over every aspect of their project, from initial sketches to final delivery.

Design Collaborations on Models and Projects

For full-custom yachts, CRN typically allows clients to choose their architects and designers. However, they have collaborated with renowned designers across various superyacht projects.Notable design studios like Zuccon International, Studio Scanu, Nuvolari Lenard, Francesco Paszkowski, Andrea Vallicelli, and Omega Architects have all played roles in CRN yacht designs. Nuvolari Lenard, in particular, contributed to the exterior design of significant CRN superyachts, including Azteca, Atlante, and the 62m Voice.Currently, CRN is working on the construction of the 67m Project Maranello, scheduled for delivery in 2025, designed by Nuvolari Lenard for both exterior and interior styling.CRN proudly maintains its membership in SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association).
