Shipyard History

- In 1982, Dave Christensen, a Vancouver-based home builder and real estate developer, embarked on an unexpected journey into boatbuilding. Upon retiring at the age of 50, Dave acquired an 80-foot (24m) motor yacht. When faced with issues regarding the vessel, Dave's response was to order a hull from Westport Shipyards and personally complete the construction. - However, before Dave could finish the project, an interested party presented an offer to purchase the yacht, which Dave accepted. Recognizing the potential in this new venture, he officially incorporated Christensen Shipyard in 1985, and the shipyard opened its doors a year later.

Innovative Construction

- The shipyard's in-house disciplines ensure quality and flexibility throughout the construction process. Their use of foam-cored structures naturally absorbs mechanical and structural energy, resulting in reduced onboard noise and vibration. - With a wealth of boat building experience exceeding 1,000 man-hours, Christensen Yachts has consistently delivered high-end yachts on time and within budget.

Notable Deliveries and Models

Pioneering Composite Fiberglass Construction - Christensen Yachts boasts a remarkable fleet of yachts ranging from 35 to 50 meters. Advanced composite materials, coupled with state-of-the-art construction processes, have been integral to the creation of vessels with strength-to-weight ratios seven times higher than steel and solid laminate. - Recent launches include the 49m Chasseur and 50m Silver Lining (2016), along with the 50m motor yacht, Jackpot (2020). Several Christensen yachts, such as I Love This Boat, Zeal, and Popeye, are also available in the charter market.
