A Nautical Legacy
In homage to the agile mongoose, Mangusta Yachts was born with a mission to bring swift, open-concept superyachts to the world's discerning seafarers. Established in 1985 as part of the Overmarine Group, this quintessentially Italian brand remains under the Balducci family's dedicated stewardship. Today, Giuseppe Balducci's children, Maurizio and Katia, play pivotal roles in this maritime enterprise. The maiden creation that catapulted Mangusta into the spotlight was the Mangusta 80 Open, a 24-meter planing-hulled speedster powered by waterjets. It defied convention by blending speed with luxury, challenging the traditional notion that open vessels sacrificed comfort for performance. As the brand evolved, so did the size of its vessels, with over 90 of the 300 launched to date measuring over 100 feet.
Defined by its sporty and streamlined aesthetics, Mangusta, a subsidiary of the Overmarine Group, has, over three decades, continued to set trends in the superyacht industry. Their fleet, poised for growth, reflects the brand's unwavering commitment to vision and innovation.
Memorable Projects and Milestones
In 2016, Mangusta ventured into the displacement market with the delivery of the tri-deck motor yacht Namaste, marking the first steel-hulled yacht crafted under the Mangusta Oceano line. More recently, the Mangusta GranSport 45, entirely crafted from aluminum, was successfully completed, adding another feather to the brand's cap.
Craftsmanship and Customization
Mangusta's shipyard facilities in Viareggio and Pisa offer a diverse range of semi-custom luxury yacht models: MaxiOpen, GranSport, and Oceano. These three lines grant clients the liberty to personalize their yacht's interior and layout according to their preferences. The breadth of Mangusta's yacht model range empowers owners to choose between high-speed luxury motor yachts or vessels designed for extended cruising, depending on their lifestyle and desires. The shipyard provides options for GRP, aluminum, or steel hull construction.
Design Collaborations and Innovation
Collaborating with the Alberto Mancini Yacht Design studio, Mangusta breathed life into the Oceano and GranSport lines, unveiling various new yacht models that expanded the Italian shipyard's offerings. Within the fast yacht range, Mangusta partnered with Igor Lobanov Design to revitalize the iconic MaxiOpen line, ushering in the Mangusta 104 REV and Mangusta 165 REV models. The MaxiOpen line epitomizes luxury sports yachts, while the Oceano line extends opportunities for exploration, boasting a remarkable range of up to 5,000 nautical miles. The GranSport line ingeniously marries these two concepts, offering a luxurious vessel with high-speed capabilities and an extensive cruising range.
