Shipyard History

Founded in 1992, AB Yachts set out with a clear mission: to establish itself as a prominent name in the world of high-performance luxury yachts. With its open-designed yachts and cutting-edge technical innovations, AB Yachts quickly became synonymous with stylish Italian fast pleasure boats. In 2001, the Fipa Group welcomed AB Yachts into its family, aligning it with the renowned Maiora and CBI Navi shipyard brands. This affiliation with Fipa Group spurred AB Yachts to invest in the development of new models, solidifying its position as a respected brand in the superyacht industry.

As of September 2021, the Fipa Group underwent a name change, becoming the Next Yacht Group, while retaining ownership of its three historic yacht brands. AB Yachts continues to epitomize speed and style, crafting sporty and well-balanced vessels ranging from 25m to 45m. With advanced construction techniques and engineering, AB Yachts remains a premier builder of sport yachts on the global stage.

Shipyard Specialty

Historically nestled in Viareggio, AB Yachts' facility specializes in the construction of high-speed semi-custom yachts, spanning from 25m to 45m in size. Crafted from composite materials, AB Yachts' models harness the power of advanced components and materials to deliver peak performance and oceanic comfort.

This Italian shipyard achieves these goals through a synthesis of lightweight materials, such as GRP and carbon fiber, paired with efficient planing hulls and waterjet propulsion systems. Within its repertoire, AB Yachts offers a range of semi-custom luxury yacht models: AB80, AB100, AB120, AB140, and the AB145. These five models empower AB Yachts' clients to tailor their yacht's interior style and layout according to their preferences and requirements. The model lines cater exclusively to clients seeking dynamic, high-speed vessels of varying lengths.

Notable Deliveries and Models

It is esteemed as a premier sport yacht builder, with one of its standout deliveries being the 44.6m AB145 yacht, "Fast & Furious," which was completed in 2015. Notably, the in-house designed models AB116 and AB140 achieved considerable success during their production runs, exemplified by vessels like "Swift" and "Seafire." More recently, AB Yachts introduced brand-new models, including the construction of AB80 and AB100 units, along with the debut of the first hull of the AB120, marking an evolution from the AB116.

Design Collaborations on Models and Projects

While it's traditionally handled the design of its sport yacht models in-house, a significant shift occurred in 2020 when the Tuscany-based design studio, Acube Design, entered into a collaboration with AB Yachts. This partnership brought forth refreshed versions of the AB80, AB100, and the all-new AB120 models, all of which retain the yard's distinctive side arch curves. These redesigned models showcase dynamic and harmonious lines, preserving the sporty character that defines the brand.
