HA LONG BAY

Bordering with China in the North Ha Long Bay is a surreal landscape with limestone rocks spread out over a large area. This UNESCO world heritage site is one of Vietnam’s most popular destinations and certainly a must see when traveling in Northern Vietnam. From Ha Long it is a few hours drive to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
Recently a helicopter and sea plane service has been started between Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, decreasing the traveling time significantly and ma king it easier to see Hanoi and the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the old quarter and Turtle Lake.
You can opt to take a boat to the capital, Malé where you’ll meet your yacht in the Port.
After refreshing yourselves, head back to town by tender, where you’ll vie for dock-space with the locals — this island nation is reliant on boats to get around. The clean, well-built town has some buildings of historic interest such as the old Mosque, built in 1656

DA NANG/HOI AN

Da Nang is just south of Hue and Vietnam’s third biggest city. Main attraction is the famous China Beach, where the American soldiers used to go surfing during Vietnam War. From Da Nang it’s a short drive to Hoi An, which is probably the most charming and authentic village in Vietnam and also a UNESCO world heritage site.
Life in Hoi An looks like a picture postcard, with pale yellow houses draped in bougainvillea, shop fronts lit with the glow of silk lanterns and women in conical hats selling their merchandise in a bustling and crowded market.

Some of the best hotels in Saigon are still within grandiose colonials overlooking gorgeous boulevards dating back to Saigon’s heyday as the so-called Paris of the Orient. In and around Saigon there are many things to do and see, such as the Cu Chi tunnels, where the Vietnamese guerrilla’s fought against the US soldiers, the War museum, but also the opera house, city ha ll and reunification palace.

CON DAO

Rughly 100 Miles South East of the entrance of Saigon River lay the island group of Con Dao. The natural beauty of these islands, with beautiful dive sites, turtles and hardly any cars on the island is in contrast with its cruel history.
During the French colonisation it was used as a “devils island” where many opponents of the colonizer were detained, tortured and executed.
